Piltown AFC is based in Piltown, Co. Kilkenny but like a number of other clubs we play in the
Waterford District Junior League for practical reasons such as travelling distance and cost. In the last 10 years
we have made huge strides as a club, particularly from a development point of view, with arguably the best
facilities in the region and the aim of further improving these. On the field we have also made great strides,
moving from the Div 2B to 2A in 99/00, then to 1B in 00/01 and 1A in 02/03. Since then we have been pushing for
promotion to the Premier division each season and been unlucky to finish in the top 3 in 3 of the last 4 seasons. We
do not revolve solely around our campaign for Premier football however. In any season we will typically have
3 junior teams, youths and a thriving underage programme with a
number of schoolboy teams, training sessions for U-10s and also the relatively recent addition of a schoolgirls
team. For the last number of years we have had an average of 85-90 junior players and X schoolboy members.
We must stress that we are an amateur club, as we often receive requests for trials from foreign-based players. We pay to play as opposed to being paid to play! |
